National Apprenticeship Week is focused on celebrating and promoting apprenticeships as a viable career option for school leavers as well as universities. The week brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy.
Corbyn has been with us as a company for around six months, coming straight from school to qualify to be a consultant through his apprenticeship. Corbyn had both university and an apprenticeship as options for his career path, so choosing a route wasn’t easy for him. He chose an apprenticeship from the appeal of learning on the job as well as earning. Here are a few words he had to say:
“Yeah, so University was an option for me. However, the concept of learning and earning money at the same time really stood out to me. I’ve always liked being in the real world, as to say and working and doing things of this sort. So I feel like an apprenticeship was the best option for me.”
“I have lots of great things to say about Pentest People Careers and the apprenticeship. However, my favourite, if I had to pick, would probably be the learning I do, the ability to bring things together and fit them together almost like a jigsaw is just a great concept, and when you’re there in search, you might be doing one piece of the jigsaw. You might not know what you’re doing. However, once you do another bit and another bit, it really starts to come together. And I think that’s a great feeling.”

Hi, my name is Corbin and I am apprentice at pentest people.
Yeah, so I'm 19 I've been here for six months. And I'm really enjoying here. So yeah, I really enjoy computing. And I love the team that I'm on open pentest people, it's fun. It's exciting. And I love to learn and I love progressing every day and learning new things every day is a day for learning. My favourite subject was mathematics. I really enjoyed the the idea of the skills being transferred into the real world with the logical problem solving skills coming into practicality in the real world. So I really enjoyed mathematics. So before I wanted to apply for an apprenticeship or pentest people, originally I wanted to be an RAF. It's been a lifelong dream since I was a child, and I do not look back one day. So I was looking around for a computing job in something in the cybersecurity sector and I came across this one, which I really took keen eye on. And I've been for a few interviews here and there. And when when I went when I came at this one, it really stood out. And I was I was so excited when I got the call for obviously the congratulation about getting the apprenticeship. So yeah. So maybe not really cybersecurity, but I've always been interested in technology and things like that sort. However, I really enjoyed the offensive side here at pentest people. And I think that's really what keeps my passion and I want to learn at such a such a high, high standard, I would say. Yeah, so University was definitely an option for me. However, the concept of learning, and in a money at the same time really stood out to me. And I've always sort of liked the fact of being in the real world as to say and work in and doing things of sore. So I feel like an apprenticeship was definitely the best option for me. Yeah, so moving down, at least for this apprenticeship was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Just being able to, especially at such a young age, the growth I've experienced just in the real world and learning about myself is galaxies larger than anything else I've done. And it was definitely a great decision and I do not look back. I have lots of great things to say about pentest people and the apprenticeship. However, my favourite if I had to pick would probably be the learning I do the ability to bring things together and fit them together almost like a jigsaw is just a great concept I feel and when you're there in search, you might be doing one piece of the jigsaw and it might not know what you're doing. However, once you do another bit and another bit, it really starts to come together. And I think that's a great feeling would no doubt really be my learning and I feel like my attitude towards it and the rate in which I do learn. I think the guys in the office will also agree with us. I'm always I'm always tapping shoulders and asking questions. And I mean, I think sometimes it gets annoying however, it's it's for the greater good. So yeah, definitely. Yeah, so one of my future goals. It's definitely to become one of the best testers Yeah, if pentest people and one day help another ambitious apprentice to achieve this goal.
